I have been working on a body of orchestral acoustic guitar-based rock for a while now. I have recently met with a singer and bassist. This leaves a few spots open:
Violin/cello - or another keyboardist, if all else fails
Acoustic guitar - this would free me up to play any of the others
We are focusing on atmospheric rock music with dark and melancholy tones and introspective lyrics. The type of thing that a crowd would feel hypnotized to and immersed in.
The type of person we're looking for needs more of a personality fit than a certain level of achievement, gear, or skill. The music itself is not technically demanding; we do not need a virtuoso. We're not looking to go on big tours - we have day jobs and this project is for fun and passion, with occasional practices and gigging out. We have recording equipment and aren't looking to book studio and producer time for thousands of dollars - a definite DIY mindset pervades our offering. We want someone who lives within 20 minutes of Bayshore mall (Fox Point), where our practice space is. Someone who doesn't smoke, drink, nor use drugs (or can go a few hours without any of those vices, at a bare minimum). A good sense of humor is appreciated, and introverts will fit better in our group than extroverts; we're down to earth and laid back.
A few albums of notable influence include Opeth's "Damnation", Days of the New's "Days of the New", and The Gathering's "Mandylion". Our influences range widely, including extreme metal, hard rock, prog rock, folk, and ambient/soundtrack. A link to a recent demo of our song "Chronology" is included below.
