ROCK - Hard Rock/Metal
In 2003, Colombia was a land embroiled in major episodes of violence, drug-trafficking and corruption. This internal armed conflict terrorized the inhabitants of the entire nation, and each day the light of hope seemed further away. This set the stage for a group of friends who decided to get together and form a band that would become Exegesis.
While its line up has continuously evolved, the Bogota, Colombia-based band has consistently delivered sharp-edged music. After touring the summer of 2013 in the United States they have landed in Chicago and for the time being have joined forces with Grrr Records who is distributing their earlier releases worldwide.
This progressive metal band fronted by Juan Carlos Garzon (bass/lead vocals) along with his brother Andres Garzon (guitars), Giovanny Rodriguez (keyboard), and MIguel Rosas (drums), has found their voice in the metal genre and seek to express their peoples anguish while attempting to offer a message of hope and the possibility of change.
Their first album, Tears of Blood (2007), is a series of stories inspired by a friends diary entries that tries to express the anguish and despair of life growing up in Colombia and her search for meaning.
With Artificial Spirit (2009), the band creates another tone and expands their sound while lyrically going further into self-reflection and attempting to provoke the apathy so pervasive in Latin America.
