Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined. ~ Thoreau
For Ben, or Benny Bassett, as he is affectionately known, this saying could not ring more true. After serving for several years as a singer and lead-guitarist for Chicago band Vintage Blue, Bassett has taken his own show on the road. “Vintage Blue was a great springboard for me, the band allowed me to travel to places and play at venues and with bands that I never could have imagined before”, says Bassett of the end of the band. “We were at a rare point, at the height of our reach and success and it became a very real venture that required more than some were willing to give”, he reflects, “I am ready to pick up where we left off”.
Benny has already done just that, already sharing the stage with acts like Sister Hazel, The Verve Pipe, Bronze Radio Return, Stokeswood, Scars on 45 and Melodime. Benny has been most excited about reconnecting with fans in a new and more intimate way. “I always loved our connection with our friends and fans”, recalls Bassett, “it is the thing I am most excited about while I am crafting these intensely personal and bare acoustic performances.” As he ventures out on his own, Bassett looks towards the ways his writing may change as a one-man band. "I want to play more piano, and show variety in the more intimate setting ... I'd like to re-imagine some of the songs and give them new life."
Building on his successes with the band, Bassett is currently finishing up work on a new album. The new EP, titled "These Dreams" is the follow up to the busiest months of his career as a professional musician. Bassett performed over 60 shows in 8 months across the United States and Canada in 2015, including a couple festival stops.
